We’re back in Rockton with Detective Casey Duncan and Sheriff Eric Dalton, along with all the characters we’ve grown to love! But this time the entire town may be in danger.
When a badly injured tourist from a group of four bursts out of the forest screaming and hysterical, Casey and Eric take her back to Rockton’s clinic for April to examine her. At the same time a new resident shows up who understands the woman is speaking Dutch. Hm…
Are the hostiles at work again? Or is this something more sinister?
When one of the original founders flies in, they are suspicious that they aren’t being told everything. Why have they not had any residents in quite a while? Why is no-one getting an extension?
I am not about to tell you anymore, except we finally find out how Rockton began and if it will continue or not.
Kelley’s books are always a solid read with capable female leads and great stories. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
I love the Vera series! And this time we meet more of her family.
As DI Vera Stanhope is on her way home the first big snow of the winter is blowing so hard she can barely find her turnoff point. The one thing she can see is a car with the driver’s door open slid off the road.
Vera checks it out and finds of all things a baby in the backseat. Assuming the driver has gone for help she leaves her business card and a note. Taking the baby to the closest house. Her relatives.Harriett and Julia Stanhope.
Brockburn is the family home and though it is pretty much crumbling around them, Julia’s husband Mark, has a plan to save it by turning it into a place for theater types and artists. Which seems a bit odd in Northumberland.
When she pulls up to the house it is clear some type of party is going on. Lights are blazing and everyone is drinking and none of them have any idea a murder has occurred on the property.
The blizzard is in full swing and everyone is staying put. Is their a killer under their roof? This is the house Vera’s father grew up in but Vera and her father were not close with them. Now she may find out more than she imagined in the secrets they were all keeping!
This is one of my favorite series and characters! Always a good mystery with the unconventional Vera!
Spunky southern private investigator Sarah Booth Delaney tackles a thorny murder while away on a girls’ weekend.
Another adventure with Sarah Booth and friends. This time Tinkie is hosting a girls’ weekend with Sarah Booth and CeCe in Lucedale, Mississippi at the posh Bexley B & B.
With Tinkie pregnant it will be a while before they can all get together. Here they can have massages and spa treatments and organic meals. But Tinkie’s wish is to be at the Easter Sunrise Service at the Palestinian Gardens, a miniature of the Holy Land created by Daniel Reynolds. It covers 20 acres and has stirred up a bit of controversy with the town’s savior of all species.
Up at dawn to attend the services, a walk through the garden turns in to a crime scene when they find a body laid out by the Mount of Olives.
The body belonged to one Perry Slay. A man generally not liked. Sneaky and underhanded, he won’t be missed. But when the local pharmacist asks Sarah Booth to find out who the killer is all the girls jump in! It is not looking good for poor Erick when the autopsy says the man was poisoned!
As more bodies turn up in the Holy Land, everyone is looking suspicious and the ladies need to find out who is doing what before they end up in the Holy Land!
These characters are so charming and well done. I love Sarah Booth and all her adventures!
Crime reporter Harper McClain is back on the beat when a troubled musician vanishes in Christi Daugherty’s Revolver Road.
We’re back in Savannah with crime reporter Harper McClain. After being told to RUN!, she is hiding out on Tybee Island while she figures out who wants her dead.
In between working at the newspaper and trying to solve her mother’s murder, she is now on the case of who killed Xavier Rayne. An up and coming music star who was set to go on tour when he walked out of his rented beach house on Tybee. His girlfriend and two bandmates are acting very suspicious and when a body shows up with bullet holes they all become suspects.
Digging deeper into the case has her not quite sure who to believe and now threats against her own life are being made which have nothing to do with the Rayne case. Someone is watching her. Someone wants to protect her. Someone wants her dead.
Who can she trust?
I love this series. Every one. This book is the reason I did not see the Super Bowl! That is how edge of your seat crazy suspenseful this book is!
