Happy Birthday, Momma! I Give You a Grandchild!

Today is my Momma’s birthday! Yes, the one I tell tales about. But this is a good tale.

I never know what to get her. She has everything, However, this one time, I gave her the gift of life.

I was pregnant and ready to have this mess over with. Momma had come to stay with me as I didn’t know nothing about having no babies. On June 6th I woke my husband up to tell him the bed had sprung a leak. It was a water bed. Turns out it had not. I had sprung a leak.

We got ourselves together and went to the hospital. A Catholic hospital. That is important because I was born in a Catholic hospital and my momma was still carrying a grudge against them because they told her that if she had complications their first priority was to save the baby. It was my first baby so I didn’t want to make a fuss so for 36 hours I screamed and cried and begged them to just kill me. Finally, my Momma spoke up and told them to get that baby out NOW! She threatened to take me to a real hospital. Finally, on her birthday, June 8th, they got that baby out! Happy Birthday Momma, here’s a baby.

I don’t know what I would have done without her. For months I was miserable. I loved my son but had no idea what to do with him. Thank you, Momma, for that and so much more. As for the said baby, he gave me my first grandchild. And don’t tell anyone, but he really is my favorite!

Enjoy and be safe!

New Books, New Looks, And Pie!

Another bright and sunny Monday morning here in Oklahoma City. These are the books I have coming out tomorrow! All of them really good. Reviews are already up on the site if you are looking for details!

It was a rain-free and hot weekend! Miss Charli stayed overnight on Friday. She tried on her dress, which is adorable! This lady is so talented and I love that she makes each one. In the USA.

She and I went shopping as she has had a major growth spurt and needed new pants and Fall clothes.

New Room:

They loved their new rooms and the craft table. Little Miss registered her own Firestick and proceeded to watch all the seasons of Stranger Things, again… And brush her hair. This is a new thing. Normally she hates brushing her hair but we found a great tangle-free brush and she sat in front of that mirror brushing her hair for hours.

We were just about to go into the mall when I remembered I had called Clothes Mentor in Edmond and had them hold a pair of Donald Pliner boots I wanted. So out of the mall and on to Edmond. I was not losing these boots!

So we ended up at T.J.Maxx and Charli tripped trying on jeans and smacked her nose on the wall. Luckily she took a few seconds to shed a tear or two and PaPa quickly brought a cup of ice to her. She and I have the same issue with pants. If they fit in the length, they are too big in the waist. Thank goodness for skinny jeans with a bit of stretch to them! We found several pairs and some new tops and hoodies, underwear and socks. I was too upset to even look at anything after I injured the child! We came home and had dinner and she gave us a fashion show.

On Saturday we went to the lake. Trying to string that summer tan along. The water was choppy so we got in a great work out. Probably the last really good one for a few weeks. We are knee-deep in birthday prep for Corbin this Saturday. This Saturday is also the Oklahoma Book Festival and I’m going to that first. Scott Pelley will be headlining along with Anne Hillerman. So I’ll have a full day for that and then it’s off to the party at the park with dinner and Corbin wanted Papa to get them a hotel room at the Marriott and have a boys night. I’m pretty sure that means pizza and swimming. The next Saturday is the Bachelor party weekend at Firelake Casino and Golf Course. And the next Saturday is the wedding!

Luckily all of the pies are made and in the freezer except for the Key Lime and we’ll do those the day before.

Have yourself a good week and be kind.

It’s Sunday! What are you reading this week?

Happy Sunday! Here it is going to be a hot one again. I am reading Christmas books today and just couldn’t get into it. So I lit a Pine candle and now the house smells like a Christmas Tree and the reading is rolling along just fine.

Today is also my little munchkin Corbins fifth birthday! So this afternoon and into the night we will be celebrating him out at GiGi’s house in the country. With all the cousins and Aunts and Uncles. And of course, Spiderman! This little boy brings me more joy than I ever thought possible. He has the most incredible imagination and you are likely to find us wearing capes and running in the yard being superheroes or having chocolate milk mocktinis at tea time.

Like me, he is a solitary soul. He is totally happy playing by himself and making up stories about fairies or super heroes.

Happy Birthday my darling boy. I love you to the moon and back!

Happy Birthday Beautiful!

7 years ago this beautiful little girl came into our lives. And oh how happy we are that she did! She is the spitting image of her daddy in looks and sass!

She has an imagination that won’t quit! And I never want her to lose that. She has the best ideas and is awed by all things sparkly and girly! She also has no qualms about getting dirty if she has to.

We make up the best stories and she is an amazing crafter already and has a voice like an angel. As in this girl has talent!! But then she comes from a long line of musicians. She makes me laugh so hard and she is so certain of everything, rather like a walking encyclopedia!

I never imagined I could love someone so much, but Miss Charli Ava, you have captured my heart and you will forever be my girl.

Giving Thanks For A Special Girl!

On November 23, 2007, I got a phone call that we all had been waiting 9 months for! It was a girl! The Beautiful Evangeline Lea.

vangiebirth-001

Born to these two cuties Brad and Meridith. And I couldn’t have been any happier!

Born a Cubs Fan! She is her Daddy’s girl! But tempered with the sweetness and kindness of her Momma. She has turned into a lovely person with a beautiful smile and heart. Although we live very far apart, there isn’t a day I don’t think about her, and her pictures hang in every room of our home.

She is a sports lover, just like Daddy and she got to see the Cubbies win!

vangieou  I’m so sorry you had to wear that my darling girl!

She is getting bigger now, Crushing it wherever she goes and whatever she does!

So today, Happy Birthday, Vangie! Keep being you and always know that you are loved to the moon and back!
