The question we all want an answer to. It seems to just be getting worse. And I have had enough of it.
We have been staying as far away from people as we can. Luckily for us we love being outside. So, we have been kayaking, camping, playing with the horses and on the boat with the grandparents. In the middle of the lake and all four of us vaccinated.
We go to the market early in the morning and get back home. I’m lucky I work from home in the sense that not much has changed for my work schedule.
Hilton is mandating masks for all employees and most are vaccinated as well. But you would not believe what they go through. The Shriners are holding a convention in town and they are all at our hotel. They are also mouthy, drunk, and fighting each other in public. What a shock. I always thought they were good people who cared about health. Wrong. One started yelling at OU Boy about his mask. Telling him it was all a hoax and he should take it off. OU Boy told him they are required to wear it and the man reached out and grabbed his shoulder to take off the mask. Luckily security was right there to escort him off the property. Hilton does not play when it comes to their employees.
Later a fist fight broke out in the bar that ended with one in jail and one sent on his way. Today we were supposed to have multiple softball teams come in but most of them tested positive for Covid at the end of the first week of school so they are now in quarantine at home. Which is very responsible of them.
We have had people yell at us about our masks and we just flip them off and move along.
We just spent four days at the lake. The good thing about having Mondays and Tuesdays off is there was no one there. Even the flies seemed to be socially distancing. It’s sad to have to tell our neighbors that they can’t come in our yard even. But our red state is also ignorant. If I have to hear about God’s will one more time I may throat punch someone.
So that’s my week. How was yours? Is everyone acting crazy where you are? What are you doing to stay safe but not isolated? Give me some ideas !
P
Not *everybody* is crazy here, but the school board is so scared of parents that they won’t make masks mandatory (just “recommended”). Bullying over masks or no-masks is verboten. The superintendent wrote that he wished he’d get this kind of concern from parents over their kids’ learning.

Seriously! I bet he does. It’s crazy here. One school opened and closed in 3 days. 80 cases

I would be all like “Oh yeah God’s Will? Well Gods Will tells me to punch you in the face” … I would never do that, lol

Oh dear, Patty, that sounds horrible.
We live in an idyllic village at the North Norfolk coast. Here nearly everyone has had their second jab weeks ago. As more or less all restrictions have been set aside life – at least for us – is like normal. We visit our neighbours for chatts and drinks in the garden and people come visiting us again. But if we enter shops we wear masks. Wearing face masks is not an issue here. We try to keep distance from people but that’s all. Nobody talks about god, well, most of my neighbours like us would just laugh about it. Your post is the first time that we hear about a connection of god and the pandemic. It’s quite absurd, isn’t it?
Stay well and safe

Meanwhile, America has people saying Hellfire awaits those who get the vaccine…..

For us Europeans that sounds quite funny, like a joke.
It’s unbelievable that folks believe in hell and hellfire. They seem to haven’t changed since the middle ages.

By the way in hell you will meet the most interesting people. In the heavens it will be utterly boring.

P.S.
When the first missionaries came to the Inuit in Greenland and told their story of hell. All the Inuit want to be there because it was a great place beause with these fires it was a warm place, a place to be.

Absurd is such a nice word for these folks. It sounds wonderful in your village. Maybe I should move!

Up here in Ontario, masks are mandatory at school which begins September 7th. Just this week our Universities and Colleges have mandated that you must be fully vaccinated by the end of September if you want to be part of in person classes. We do have some anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers, but not too many. I have a few friends I spend with as they are all vaccinated, as well as my family. I spend a lot of time alone, but I am okay with that.

We are still locked down in Melbourne, Australia. Masks indoor and out. All retail closed. And you must stay within 5km from your home. Work permits for going to work. 2 hours of exercising. From what I can see it will be lucky if we are released by Christmas.
