How do we know the difference between dreams and memories?
Ms. Unger is back with another spot on psychological thriller.
It has now been almost a year since Poppy’s husband Jack was murdered while on an early morning run. His killer has never been found.
Poppy has become a ghost in her own life. Not sure if she is dreaming or remembering what happened in the days after the murder. She’s seeing a therapist but she isn’t telling her everything. She’s popping pills with alcohol to try to sleep but even then she isn’t sure if she is sleeping or dreaming. Did she have a break from reality? Will she ever remember what happened?
Looking at her through my own experience with losing a husband in a second, I can relate to Poppy. And I can tell you this hit very close to home for me. Thinking you see your husband sitting on the sofa or lounging in doorway only to find none of its real.
When strange men start texting her and following her she isn’t quite sure if they are real or if she is really losing her mind. But the one thing you can count on in this story is that nothing is what it looks like and no one is what they say they are.
I love that the author keeps you on your toes with a fast pace and a main character you just want to hold on to and reassure her that it will be okay.
Well Done!
